Since 2010 I have worked as a software engineer: first on public health and education systems in Minas Gerais, then as a consultant for banks and fintechs in São Paulo, and since 2020 on the API platform at Decisiv, where thousands of truck repair shops and fleets exchange data every day.

The work I enjoy most sits between the database and the HTTP response: designing an API other teams can trust, making a slow query fast, and putting the tracing and dashboards in place so the next problem is visible before a customer reports it. I write tests first, read query plans before touching code, and prefer a small change that ships this week over a big one that ships next quarter.

Outside work I am taking a postgraduate course in software engineering with applied AI, and spending time on how large APIs can be exposed safely to AI assistants.

Senior Software Engineer · Decisiv

Glen Allen, VA, USA · remote

Backend engineer working on the public API platform and AI integrations for a service relationship platform used by truck OEMs, dealers and fleets across North America.

  • Build and operate MCP integrations for AI assistants, from AWS infrastructure and deployment to the server and its tools in production.
  • Design and implement MCP tools over existing APIs, preserving user authentication and permissions.
  • Design and build endpoints of the public REST API with contract-first validation (dry-rb), JSON:API serialization and OpenAPI docs kept in sync with the code.
  • Performance work on multi-tenant Rails services over PostgreSQL tables with millions of rows: query-plan analysis, N+1 elimination, index and query-shape fixes.
  • Observability with Datadog, LogScale and distributed tracing, including usage metering and cost tracking per MCP tool call.
  • Technical design reviews, architecture decisions and mentoring across a small, senior team.
